It was 8:50, Phillip had to run fast if he was going to make it to the dance auditions. As he ran down the hill, back to Town Hall, Phillip knew that everything was going to work out. Not only had he changed his name to fit with his idle, but he was going to try out for the most prestigious dance team in the county! He arrived with 30 seconds to spare, just enough time to say hi to his grandma and make his way to the judges’ table.
“I’m here for the dance auditions.” Phillip stated.
“Name?” asked the judge in the middle.
“I am proud to say, Phillip Fredrickson.” And with that he smiled courtly.
“Ok…”bellowed the judge. “Alright, you will be on in ten minutes, you can go to the dressing room to get ready.”
Phillip made his way to the dressing room with his messenger bag in hand. Knowing full well what he would have to do to impress the judges, he changed into the silver tights and muscle shirt he had packed. He put a silver funnel upside down on his head and tied it together with a string. If he were ever to make the “Lithium Robot” shine, he would have to play the part.
After a few truly wonderful acts, Phillip was up, more nervous than he had ever been.
He gave the cue to the DJ to play “Mr. Roboto,” and he lit up the dance floor. True to form, he portrayed a very realistic, new age robot. He glided on the floor. He was the spitting image of a modern robot. When the song ended, the applause roared. Whistles and roses were thrown onto his feet, and the judges displayed their signs of approval. The judges conversed for what seemed to Phillip as an eternity, and upon deliberation, they nodded curtly, and said with great gusto “Welcome to the county’s dance team!”
Phillip, who was already on his knees crying, was speechless.
As the crowd rushed the stage, the judges tried to maintain order, they still had two hours left of audition left. Phillip was being hugged and congratulated by everyone, and he could barely hold his emotions.
Finally, Phillip was able to speak, with the county’s flag draped across his shoulders (a picture of a purple star and a blue background) he spoke into the microphone “Finally the name and power of Phillip II will be synonymous with the 21st Century!”
The crowd roared and the tears poured, and Phillip knew everything was finally going to work out for him. All was well...but for how long?...
